Christ the King Sunday (Nov 26)

Crown Him With Many Crowns (525)
Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark how the heav’nly anthem drowns All music but its own.
Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King Through all eternity.
Crown Him the virgin’s Son, The God incarnate born,
Whose arm those crimson trophies won Which now His brow adorn;
Fruit of the mystic rose, Yet of that rose the stem,
The root whence mercy ever flows, The babe of Bethlehem.
Crown Him the Lord of Life, Who triumphed o’er the grave
And rose victorious in the strife For those He came to save.
His glories now we sing, Who died and rose on high,
Who died eternal life to bring And lives that death may die.
Crown Him the Lord of heav’n, Enthroned in worlds above,
Crown Him the King to whom is giv’n The wondrous name of Love.
Crown Him with many crowns As thrones before him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns, For He is King of all.

Invocation
En el nombre del Padre, y del X Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo.
All Amen.

Confession and Forgiveness
If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us
All But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse
us from all unrighteousness.
Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.
All Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.
Cristo, ten piedad de nosotros.
All Cristo, ten piedad de nosotros.
Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.
All Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.
Silence is Kept
Let us then confess our sins to God our Father:
All Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have
sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we
have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our
neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive
us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to
the glory of Your holy name. Amen.
Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all
your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I forgive you all
your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
All Amen.

The Kyrie

The Prayer of the Day
The Lord be with you.
All And also with you.
Let us pray.
All God the Father, help us to hear the call of Christ the King and to follow in his service,
whose kingdom has no end; for he reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, one
glory. Amen.

The Scripture Readings

Ezekiel 34:11-16, 20-24
“‘For this is what the Sovereign Lord says: I myself will search for my sheep and look after
them. 12 As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after
my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of
clouds and darkness. 13 I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the
countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of
Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land. 14 I will tend them in a good
pasture, and the mountain heights of Israel will be their grazing land. There they will lie down
in good grazing land, and there they will feed in a rich pasture on the mountains of Israel. 15
I myself will tend my sheep and have them lie down, declares the Sovereign Lord. 16 I will
search for the lost and bring back the strays. I will bind up the injured and strengthen the
weak, but the sleek and the strong I will destroy. I will shepherd the flock with justice. 20
“‘Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says to them: See, I myself will judge between the
fat sheep and the lean sheep. 21 Because you shove with flank and shoulder, butting all the
weak sheep with your horns until you have driven them away, 22 I will save my flock, and
they will no longer be plundered. I will judge between one sheep and another. 23 I will
place over them one shepherd, my servant David, and he will tend them; he will tend them
and be their shepherd. 24 I the Lord will be their God, and my servant David will be prince
among them. I the Lord have spoken.

This is the word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.
1 Corinthians 15:20-28
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen
asleep. 21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also
through a man. 22 For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. 23 But each in
turn: Christ, the firstfruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. 24 Then the end will
come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all
dominion, authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his
feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For he “has put everything under his
feet.” Now when it says that “everything” has been put under him, it is clear that this does not
include God himself, who put everything under Christ. 28 When he has done this, then the
Son himself will be made subject to him who put everything under him, so that God may be
all in all.
This is the word of the Lord.
All Thanks be to God.

The Gospel Procession
The Holy Gospel is read in the midst of the people as a reminder of God coming to us in Jesus Christ. As the Gospel is announced some make a small cross on their forehead, lips, and chest – a prayer that the Word would dwell in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts.

Hail Thee, Festival Day (489)
Hail thee, festival day! Blest day to be hallowed forever;
Day when our Lord was raised, Breaking the kingdom of death.
Hail thee, festival day! Blest day to be hallowed forever;
Day when our Lord was raised, Breaking the kingdom of death.
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew.
All Glory to You, O Lord.

Matthew 25:31-46
Jesus said to his disciples: “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he
will sit upon his glorious throne, and all the nations will be assembled before him. And he will
separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will place
the sheep on his right and the goats on his left. Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you
who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and
you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited
me.’ Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and
clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in
reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for
the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me
no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in
prison, and you did not care for me.’ Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you
hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ He will
answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for
me.’ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
All Praise to you, O Christ.

Hail Thee, Festival Day (489)
Hail thee, festival day! Blest day to be hallowed forever;
Day when our Lord was raised, Breaking the kingdom of death.
Hail thee, festival day! Blest day to be hallowed forever;
Day when our Lord was raised, Breaking the kingdom of death.

The Apostle’s Creed
All I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried.
He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into
heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence He will come
to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection X of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen

Beautiful Savior (537)
Beautiful Savior, King of creation,
Son of God and Son of Man!
Truly I’d love Thee, Truly I’d serve Thee,
Light of my soul, my joy, my crown.
Fair are the meadows, Fair are the woodlands,
Robed in flow’rs of blooming spring;
Jesus is fairer, Jesus is purer; He makes our sorr’wing spirit sing.
Fair is the sunshine, Fair is the moonlight,
Bright the sparkling stars on high;
Jesus shines brighter, Jesus shines purer
Than all the angels in the sky.

Sermon

The Offering

Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow (805)
Praise God, from whom all blessings flow;
Praise Him, all creatures here below;
Praise Him above, ye heav’nly host:
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

Silent Prayer Before Reception of Holy Eucharist
O Lord, I believe and profess that you are truly Christ,
The Son of the living God, who came into the world
To save sinners of whom I am the first.
Accept me as a partaker of your mystical supper, O Lord,
For I will not reveal your mystery to your enemies,
Nor will I give you a kiss as did Judas, But like the thief I profess to you:
Remember me, O Lord, when you come in your kingdom.
Remember me, O Master, when you come in your kingdom.
Remember me, O Holy One, when you come in your kingdom.
May the partaking of your Holy mysteries, O Lord,
Be not for my judgment or condemnation,
But for the healing of my soul and body.
O Lord, I believe and profess, that this,
Which I am about to receive,
Is truly your most precious Body, and your life-giving Blood,
Given for me for remission of all my sins and for life everlasting. Amen

Service of the Sacrament
The Lord be with you.
All And also with you.
Lift up your hearts.
All We lift them to the Lord.
Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
All It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you thanks, holy
Father, almighty and eternal God. For with the oil of gladness you have anointed Christ the
Lord, your only Son, to be our great high priest and king of all creation. As priest, he offered
himself once for all upon the altar of the cross and redeemed the human race by this perfect
sacrifice of peace. As king he claims dominion over all your creatures, that he may bring
before your infinite majesty a kingdom of truth and life, a kingdom of holiness and grace, a
kingdom of justice, love, and peace. Therefore, with angels and archangels and with all the
company of heaven we laud and magnify Your glorious name, evermore praising You and
saying:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of Sabaoth adored;
Heaven and earth with full acclaim shout the glory of Your name.
Sing hosana in the highest, sing hosana to the Lord;
Truly blest is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You
created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior.
With repentant joy, we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice
of His body and His blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of
Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit.
Grant us to faithfully eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us to in His own testament.
Gather us together from the ends of the earth to celebrate, with all the faithful, the marriage
feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Receive our prayers; deliver and
preserve us. To You alone be all glory, honor, and worship, now and forever.
All Amen.
