The Ringing of the Bells and The Welcome

Opening Hymn: Jesus Christ is Risen Today

Jesus Christ is ris'n today, Alleluia!

Our triumphant holy day, Alleluia!

Who did once upon the cross, Alleluia!

Suffer to redeem our loss, Alleluia!

Hymns of praise then let us sing, Alleluia!

Unto Christ, our heav'nly king, Alleluia!

Who endured the cross and grave, Alleluia!

Sinners to redeem and save, Alleluia!

But the pains which He endured, Alleluia!

Our salvation have procured; Alleluia!

Now above the sky He’s king, Alleluia!

Where the angels ever sing, Alleluia!

Sing we to our God above, Alleluia!

Praise eternal as His love; Alleluia!

Praise Him, all ye heav'nly host, Alleluia!

Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Alleluia!

People:         Señor, ten piedad de nosotros

(Silent Prayer) (Momento de Oración Personal)

Pastor:            As a penitent people, we ask God for His mercy, and we confess our sin to God, our Father;

People:          Gracious God, in heartfelt repentance we admit and confess our sinfulness. We are sin-stained people by nature. Each day we have sinned and done things we ought not to have done and have not done that which we are to have been doing as Your servants. We have not seen people in the loving way that You see them. We have not always been ready to care and quick to help. We do indeed deserve Your punishment in this life and for eternity. Trusting in Your mercy, we come to You for forgiveness. Our trust is in the merits of Your Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. Have mercy on us, O God. Grant us forgiveness of all our sins, and by the power of the Holy Spirit at work within our hearts and lives, lead us into ways that reflect Your goodness and love.

Pastor:            God is loving and merciful. He sees us with loving eyes and graciously hears us. By the command of our Lord and as His called and ordained servant, I forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

People:          Amen.

The Prayer of the Day

People:          God of glory, by the raising of your Son you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!

Acts 10:34-48

34 Peter began to speak: “I now realize that it is true that God treats everyone on the same basis. 35Those who worship him and do what is right are acceptable to him, no matter what race they belong to. 36You know the message he sent to the people of Israel, proclaiming the Good News of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all. 37You know of the great event that took place throughout the land of Israel, beginning in Galilee after John preached his message of baptism. 38You know about Jesus of Nazareth and how God poured out on him the Holy Spirit and power. He went everywhere, doing good and healing all who were under the power of the Devil, for God was with him. 39We are witnesses of everything that he did in the land of Israel and in Jerusalem. Then they put him to death by nailing him to a cross. 40But God raised him from death three days later and caused him to appear, 41not to everyone, but only to the witnesses that God had already chosen, that is, to us who ate and drank with him after he rose from death. 42And he commanded us to preach the gospel to the people and to testify that he is the one whom God has appointed judge of the living and the dead. 43All the prophets spoke about him, saying that all who believe in him will have their sins forgiven through the power of his name.” 44 While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came down on all those who were listening to his message. 45The Jewish believers who had come from Joppa with Peter were amazed that God had poured out his gift of the Holy Spirit on the Gentiles also. 46For they heard them speaking in strange tongues and praising God’s greatness. Peter spoke up: 47“These people have received the Holy Spirit, just as we also did. Can anyone, then, stop them from being baptized with water?” 48So he ordered them to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. Then they asked him to stay with them for a few days.

Reader:          This is the Word of the Lord.

People:          Thanks be to God!

1 John 5:1-6

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Messiah is a child of God; and whoever loves a father loves his child also. 2This is how we know that we love God’s children: it is by loving God and obeying his commands. For our love for God means that we obey his commands. And his commands are not too hard for us, 4because every child of God is able to defeat the world. And we win the victory over the world by means of our faith. 5Who can defeat the world? Only the person who believes that Jesus is the Son of God. 6 Jesus Christ is the one who came with the water of his baptism and the blood of his death. He came not only with the water, but with both the water and the blood. And the Spirit himself testifies that this is true, because the Spirit is truth.

Reader:          This is the Word of the Lord.

People:          Thanks be to God!

John 15:9-17

9 I love you just as the Father loves me; remain in my love. 10 If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My commandment is this: love one another, just as I love you. 13The greatest love a person can have for his friends is to give his life for them. 14 And you are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 I do not call you servants any longer, because servants do not know what their master is doing. Instead, I call you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. 16You did not choose me; I chose you and appointed you to go and bear much fruit, the kind of fruit that endures. And so the Father will give you whatever you ask of him in my name. 17This, then, is what I command you: love one another.

Pastor:            This is the Gospel of the Lord.

People:          Praise to You, O Christ.

Kids Sermon

Sermon Hymn: In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All,

Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,

Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,

Scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid,

Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,

Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day,

Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory, Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine,

Bought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death, This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath, Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand
Till He returns or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant joy, we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord, to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us to faithfully eat His body and drink His blood as He bids us to in His own testament. Gather us together from the ends of the earth to celebrate, with all the faithful, the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has no end. Receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone be all glory, honor, and worship, now and forever. Amen.

Post-Communion Prayer

We give thanks to You, almighty God, that You have refreshed us through this salutary gift, and we implore You, that of Your mercy, You would strengthen us in faith toward You and in fervent love toward one another; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

Closing Hymn: For All the Faithful Women

For all the faithful women
who served in days of old,
to you shall thanks be given;
to all, their story told.
They served with strength and gladness
in tasks your wisdom gave.
To you their lives bore witness,
proclaimed your pow’r to save.

O God, for saints and servants,
those named and those unknown,
in whom through all the ages
your light of glory shone,
we offer glad thanksgiving
and fervent prayer we raise
that, faithful in your service,
our lives may sing your praise.
We sing of Mary, mother,

Fair maiden, full of grace.

She bore the Christ, our brother,

Who came to save our race.

May we, with her, surrender

Ourselves to Your command

And lay upon Your altar

Our gifts of heart and hand.

All praise to God the Father!
All praise to Christ the Son!
All praise to God the Spirit,
who binds the church as one!
With saints who went before us,
with saints who witness still,
we sing glad alleluias
and strive to do your will

The Ringing of the Bells and The Welcome

Opening Hymn: Alleluia Sing To Jesus

Alleluia! Sing to Jesus; His the scepter, His the throne;

Alleluia! His the triumph, His the victory alone.

Hark! The songs of peaceful Zion Thunder like a mighty flood:

"Jesus out of ev'ry nation Has redeemed us by His blood."

Alleluia! Not as orphans Are we left in sorrow now;

Alleluia! He is near us; Faith believes, nor questions how.

Though the cloud from sight received Him

When the forty days were o'er,

Shall our hearts forget His promise: "I am with you evermore"?

Alleluia! Bread of heaven, Here on earth our food, our stay;

Alleluia! Here the sinful Flee to You from day to day.

Intercessor, Friend of sinners, Earth's Redeemer, hear our plea

Where the songs of all the sinless Sweep across the crystal sea.

Alleluia! King eternal, Lord omnipotent we own;

Alleluia! Born of Mary, Earth Your footstool, heav'n Your throne.

As within the veil You entered,

Robed in flesh, our great High Priest,

Here on earth both priest and victim In the eucharistic feast.

People:           O almighty God, most merciful Father, I, a repentant sinner, confess to You all my sins and iniquities with which I have offended You. By nature I am a sinful creature. In thought, word, and deed I have continually transgressed Your Law. For this I justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of the sufferings and death of Your Son, Jesus Christ, be gracious and merciful to me, a penitent and contrite being. Bless us here as we gather in Your Son.

Give us joy, grant us peace, make us one!

Acts 8:26-40

26 An angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get ready and go south to the road that goes from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27-28So Philip got ready and went. Now an Ethiopian eunuch, who was an important official in charge of the treasury of the queen of Ethiopia, was on his way home. He had been to Jerusalem to worship God and was going back home in his chariot. As he rode along, he was reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. 29The Holy Spirit said to Philip, “Go over to that carriage and stay close to it.” 30Philip ran over and heard him reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. He asked him, “Do you understand what you are reading?” 31 The official replied, “How can I understand unless someone explains it to me?” And he invited Philip to climb up and sit in the carriage with him. The passage of scripture which he was reading was this: “Like a sheep that is taken to be slaughtered, like a lamb that makes no sound when its wool is cut off, he did not say a word. He was humiliated, and justice was denied him. No one will be able to tell about his descendants, because his life on earth has come to an end.” 34 The official asked Philip, “Tell me, of whom is the prophet saying this? Of himself or of someone else?” 35Then Philip began to speak; starting from this passage of scripture, he told him the Good News about Jesus. 36As they traveled down the road, they came to a place where there was some water, and the official said, “Here is some water. What is to keep me from being baptized?” 38 The official ordered the carriage to stop, and both Philip and the official went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord took Philip away. The official did not see him again, but continued on his way, full of joy. 40Philip found himself in Azotus; he went on to Caesarea, and on the way he preached the Good News in every town.

Reader:          This is the Word of the Lord.

People:           Thanks be to God!

1 John 4:1-11

1My dear friends, do not believe all who claim to have the Spirit, but test them to find out if the spirit they have comes from God. For many false prophets have gone out everywhere. 2This is how you will be able to know whether it is God’s Spirit: anyone who acknowledges that Jesus Christ came as a human being has the Spirit who comes from God. 3But anyone who denies this about Jesus does not have the Spirit from God. The spirit that he has is from the Enemy of Christ; you heard that it would come, and now it is here in the world already.  4But you belong to God, my children, and have defeated the false prophets, because the Spirit who is in you is more powerful than the spirit in those who belong to the world. 5Those false prophets speak about matters of the world, and the world listens to them because they belong to the world. 6But we belong to God. Whoever knows God listens to us; whoever does not belong to God does not listen to us. This, then, is how we can tell the difference between the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error. 7Dear friends, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Whoever loves is a child of God and knows God. 8Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love. 9And God showed his love for us by sending his only Son into the world, so that we might have life through him. 10This is what love is: it is not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the means by which our sins are forgiven.  11Dear friends, if this is how God loved us, then we should love one another.

Reader:           This is the Word of the Lord.

People:           Thanks be to God!

John 15:1-8

1 I am the real vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2He breaks off every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and he prunes every branch that does bear fruit, so that it will be clean and bear more fruit. 3You have been made clean already by the teaching I have given you. 4Remain united to me, and I will remain united to you. A branch cannot bear fruit by itself; it can do so only if it remains in the vine. In the same way you cannot bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 “I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me. 6Whoever does not remain in me is thrown out like a branch and dries up; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, where they are burnt. 7If you remain in me and my words remain in you, then you will ask for anything you wish, and you shall have it. 8My Father’s glory is revealed by your bearing much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Pastor:             This is the Gospel of the Lord.

People:           Praise to You, O Christ.

The Apostle’s Creed

    I believe in God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth.

    And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

    I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of  the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

Kids Sermon

Sermon Hymn:.Gods Own Child I Gladly Say It

God’s own child, I gladly say it: I am baptized into Christ!

He, because I could not pay it, gave my full redemption price.

Do I need earth’s treasures many?  I have one worth more than any

That brought me salvation free, Lasting to eternity!

Sin, disturb my soul no longer: I am baptized into Christ!

I have comfort even stronger: Jesus’ cleansing sacrifice.

Should a guilty conscience seize me,

since my baptism did release me

In a dear forgiving flood, sprinkling me with Jesus’ blood?

Death, you cannot end my gladness: I am baptized into Christ!

When I die, I leave all sadness to inherit paradise!

Though I lie in dust and ashes faith’s assurance brightly flashes:

Baptism has the strength divine to make life immortal mine.

There is nothing worth comparing to this lifelong comfort sure!

Open-eyed my grave is staring: Even there I’ll sleep secure.

Though my flesh awaits its raising, still my soul continues praising:

I am baptized into Christ; I’m a child of paradise!

Eternal is the gift he brings, therefore our heart with rapture sings:

"Christ has triumphed!  He is living!"

Now still he comes to give us life and by his presence stills all strife.

Christ has triumphed!  He is living! Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Oh, fill us, Lord, with dauntless love;

set heart and will on things above

That we conquer through your triumph;

Grant grace sufficient for life's day that by our lives we truly say:

Adoring praises now we bring and with the heav'nly blessed sing:

"Christ has triumphed!  Alleluia!"

Be to the Father and our Lord, to Spirit blest, most holy God,

All the glory, never ending!

the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
People: Amen. Thanks be to God.

THE PRAYER OF THE DAY
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Pastor: Let us pray:
People: Almighty God, merciful Father, since You have wakened from death the Shepherd
of Your sheep, grant us Your Holy Spirit that when we hear the voice of our
Shepherd we may know Him who calls us each by name and follow where He leads;
through the same Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you
and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
THE RESPONSE: THIS IS THE FEAST
This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Whose blood set us free to be people of God.

Power, riches, wisdom, and strength,
and honor, blessing, and glory are His.

Sing with all the people of God,
and join in the hymn of all creation:
Blessing, honor, glory, and might
Be to God and the Lamb forever. Amen

For the Lamb who was slain has begun His reign. Alleluia.
This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia!

Acts 4:1-12
1 Peter and John were still speaking to the people when some priests, the officer in charge of the
temple guards, and some Sadducees arrived. 2They were annoyed because the two apostles were
teaching the people that Jesus had risen from death, which proved that the dead will rise to life. 3So
they arrested them and put them in jail until the next day, since it was already late. 4But many who
heard the message believed; and the number of men grew to about 5,000. 5 The next day the
Jewish leaders, the elders, and the teachers of the Law gathered in Jerusalem. 6They met with the
High Priest Annas and with Caiaphas, John, Alexander, and the others who belonged to the High
Priest’s family. 7They made the apostles stand before them and asked them, “How did you do this?
What power have you got or whose name did you use?” 8 Peter, full of the Holy Spirit, answered
them, “Leaders of the people and elders: 9if we are being questioned today about the good deed
done to the lame man and how he was healed, 10then you should all know, and all the people of
Israel should know, that this man stands here before you completely well through the power of the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth—whom you crucified and whom God raised from death. 11 Jesus
is the one of whom the scripture says: ‘The stone that you the builders despised turned out to be
the most important of all.’ 12 Salvation is to be found through him alone; in all the world there is no
one else whom God has given who can save us.”

1 John 3:16-24
16 This is how we know what love is: Christ gave his life for us. We too, then, ought to give our lives
for others. 17 If someone has enough to live on and sees a brother or sister in need but does not
help, how can the love of God be in that person? 18My children, our love should not be just words
and talk; it must be true love, which shows itself in action. 19 This is how we will know that we belong
to the truth and reassure our hearts in God’s presence when our hearts condemn us; for God is
greater than our hearts and knows everything. 21-22And so, my dear friends, if our hearts do not
condemn us, we can approach God with confidence and receive from him what we ask, because
we are keeping his commands and doing what he approves. 23 His command is that we should put
our trust in his Son Jesus Christ and love one another as Christ commanded us. 24Those who keep
God’s commands live in union with God and God lives in union with them. And because of the Spirit
that God has given us we know that God lives in union with us.

John 10:11-18
11 “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep. 12When the hired man, who is not
a shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees a wolf coming, he leaves the sheep and runs away;
so the wolf snatches the sheep and scatters them. 13The hired man runs away because he is only
a hired man and does not care about the sheep. 14-15 I am the good shepherd. As the Father knows
me and I know the Father, in the same way I know my sheep and they know me. And I am willing
to die for them. 16 There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheepfold. I must
bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock with one shepherd. 17
“The Father loves me because I am willing to give up my life, in order that I may receive it back
again. 18 No one takes my life away from me. I give it up of my own free will. I have the right to give
it up, and I have the right to take it back. This is what my Father has commanded me to do.”
Pastor: This is the Gospel of the Lord.
People: Praise to You, O Christ.

THE APOSTLE’S CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born
of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He
descended into hell. The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the
living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the
forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE

SERMON HYMN: “The King of Love My Shepherd Is”
The King of love my shepherd is, whose goodness faileth never;
I nothing lack if I am his and he is mine forever.
Where streams of living water flow, My ransomed soul he leadeth
And where the verdant pastures grow, With food celestial feedeth.
Perverse and foolish oft I strayed, but yet in love he sought me
And on his shoulder gently laid and home rejoicing brought me.
In death’s dark vale I fear no ill with thee, dear Lord, beside me,
Thy rod and staff my comfort still, thy cross before to guide me.
Thou spreadst a table in my sight; thine unction grace bestoweth;
And, oh, what transport of delight from thy pure chalice floweth!
And so through all the length of days thy goodness faileth never.
Good Shepherd, may I sing thy praise within thy house forever.

SERMON

PRAYERS

THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver
us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever
and ever. Amen

SERVICE OF THE SACRAMENT
Pastor: The Lord be with you.
People: And also with you.
Pastor: Lift up your hearts.
People: We lift them to the Lord.
Pastor: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People: It is right to give Him thanks and praise.
Pastor: It is indeed right, our duty and our joy, always and everywhere to give you thanks, eternal
Father, and in these days of Easter to celebrate with joyful hearts the memory of your
wonderful works. For by the mystery of his passion Jesus Christ, your risen Son, has
conquered the powers of death and hell and restored in humanity the image of your glory.
He has placed them once more in paradise and opened to them the gate of life eternal.
And so, in the joy of this Passover, earth and heaven resound with gladness, while angels
and archangels and the powers of all creation speak forever of your glory.
People: Amen!

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Blessed are You, Lord of heaven and earth, for You have had mercy on those whom You created
and sent Your only-begotten Son into our flesh to bear our sin and be our Savior. With repentant
joy, we receive the salvation accomplished for us by the all-availing sacrifice of His body and His
blood on the cross. Gathered in the name and the remembrance of Jesus, we beg You, O Lord,
to forgive, renew, and strengthen us with Your Word and Spirit. Grant us to faithfully eat His body
and drink His blood as He bids us to in His own testament. Gather us together from the ends of the
earth to celebrate, with all the faithful, the marriage feast of the Lamb in His kingdom, which has
no end. Receive our prayers; deliver and preserve us. To You alone be all glory, honor, and
worship, now and forever.

LAMB OF GOD
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world;
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world;
have mercy on us.
Lamb of God, You take away the sin of the world;
grant us peace.

CONSECRATION AND DISTRIBUTION

THANK THE LORD
Thank the Lord and sing His praise;
tell everyone what He has done.
Let everyone who seeks the Lord,
rejoice and proudly bear His name.
He recalls His promises, and leads His people forth in joy
with shouts of thanksgiving. Alleluia, alleluia.

POST-COMMUNION PRAYER
We give thanks to You, almighty God, that You have refreshed us through this salutary gift,
and we implore You, that of Your mercy, You would strengthen us in faith toward You and
in fervent love toward one another; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and
reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

CLOSING HYMN: "Have No Fear, Little Flock" (# 735)
Have no fear, little flock, have no fear, little flock,
For your Father has chosen to give you the kingdom;
Have no fear, little flock.
Have good cheer, little flock; have good cheer, little flock,
For the Father will keep you in His love forever;
Have good cheer, little flock.
Praise the Lord high above; Praise the Lord high above,
For He stoops down to heal you, uplift and restore you;
Praise the Lord high above!
Thankful hearts raise to God; Thankful hearts raise to God,
For he stays close beside you, in all things works with you;
Thankful hearts raise to God!
