The Ringing of the Bells and The Welcome

Opening Hymn: Great is Thy Faithfulness (809)

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;

There is no shadow of turning with Thee.

Thou changest not: Thy compassions, they fail not;

As Thou hast been, Thou forever wilt be.

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,

Sun, moon and stars in their courses above

Join with all nature in manifold witness

To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,

Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;

Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,

Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Great is Thy faithfulness!

Morning by morning new mercies I see;

All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;

Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Invocation

Pastor:            In the name of the Father, the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

People:          Amen.

Confession and Forgiveness

Pastor:            If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

People:          But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

(Silent Prayer) (Momento de Oración Personal)

Pastor:           Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.

People:         Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.

Pastor:           Cristo, ten piedad de nosotros.

People:         Cristo, ten piedad de nosotros.

Pastor:           Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.

People:         Señor, ten piedad de nosotros.

Pastor:            Let us then confess our sins to God:

People:          Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen.

Pastor:                Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I         therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and  of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

      People:         Amen

      Response: Vamos Cantando Al Señor

      Vamos cantando al Señor, Él es nuestra alegría.

      La luz de un nuevo dia venció a la oscuridad

     Que brilla en nuestras almas... la luz de la verdad.

      Vamos cantando al Señor, Él es nuestra alegría.

      La roca que nos salva es Cristo nuestro Dios;

     Llegemos dando gracias a nuestro Redentor.

      Vamos cantando al Señor, Él es nuestra alegría.

      Los cielos y la tierra aclaman al Señor,

     Ha hecho maravillas; Inmenso es su amor

      Vamos cantando al Señor, Él es nuestra alegría.

      The Prayer of the Day  (La Oración del Día)

      Risen Christ, faithful shepherd of your Father’s sheep: teach us to hear your voice and to follow your command, that all your people may be gathered into one flock, to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

      The Scripture Readings  (see insert)

     (After each reading:)

Reader: This is the Word of the Lord.

      People: Thanks be to God!

      Acts 2:42-47

        42 They spent their time in learning from the apostles, taking part in the fellowship, and sharing in the fellowship meals and the prayers. 43 Many miracles and wonders were being done through the apostles, and everyone was filled with awe. All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another. 45 They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed. 46 Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts, 47 praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

      1 Peter 2:18-25

        18 You servants must submit to your masters and show them complete respect, not only to those who are kind and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. 19 God will bless you for this, if you endure the pain of undeserved suffering because you are conscious of his will. 20 For what credit is there if you endure the beatings you deserve for having done wrong? But if you endure suffering even when you have done right, God will bless you for it. 21 It was to this that God called you, for Christ himself suffered for you and left you an example, so that you would follow in his steps. 22 He committed no sin, and no one ever heard a lie come from his lips. 23 When he was insulted, he did not answer back with an insult; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but placed his hopes in God, the righteous Judge. 24 Christ himself carried our sins in his body to the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness. It is by his wounds that you have been healed. 25 You were like sheep that had lost their way, but now you have been brought back to follow the Shepherd and Keeper of your souls.

      John 10:1-11

        1 Jesus said, “I am telling you the truth: the man who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate, but climbs in some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The man who goes in through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him; the sheep hear his voice as he calls his own sheep by name, and he leads them out. 4 When he has brought them out, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him, because they know his voice. 5 They will not follow someone else; instead, they will run away from such a person, because they do not know his voice.”  6 Jesus told them this parable, but they did not understand what he meant.  7 So Jesus said again, “I am telling you the truth: I am the gate for the sheep. 8 All others who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. 9 I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; they will come in and go out and find pasture. 10 The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.  11 I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for the sheep.”

      The Apostle’s Creed

    I believe in God, the Father Almighty maker of heaven and earth.

         And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell.  The third day he rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. From thence he will come to judge the living and the dead.

           I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of  the body, and the life everlasting.  Amen.

      Sermon Hymn: Christ Be My Leader (861)

      Christ be my leader by night as by day;

      Safe through the darkness, for he is the way.

      Gladly I follow, my future his care;...

      Darkness is daylight when Jesus is there!

      Christ be my teacher in age as in youth,

      Drifting or doubting, for he is the truth.

      Grant me to trust him; though shifting as sand,...

      Doubt cannot daunt me; in Jesus I stand!

      Christ be my savior in calm as in strife;

      Death cannot hold me, for he is the life.

      Nor darkness nor doubting nor sin and its stain

      Can touch my salvation: with Jesus I reign!

Closing Hymn: Gods Own Child Gladly Say It  (594)

God's own child, I gladly say it:

I am baptized into Christ!

He, because I could not pay it,

Gave my full redemption price.

Do I need earth's treasures many?

I have one worth more than any

That brought me salvation free

Lasting to eternity!

Sin, disturb my soul no longer:

I am baptized into Christ!

I have comfort even stronger:

Jesus' cleansing sacrifice.

Should a guilty conscience seize me

Since my Baptism did release me

In a dear forgiving flood,

Sprinkling me with Jesus' blood!

Satan, hear this proclamation:

I am baptized into Christ!

Drop your ugly accusation,

I am not so soon enticed.

Now that to the font I've traveled,

All your might has come unraveled,

And, against your tyranny,

God, my Lord, unites with me!

Death, you cannot end my gladness:

I am baptized into Christ!

When I die, I leave all sadness

To inherit paradise!

Though I lie in dust and ashes

Faith's assurance brightly flashes:

Baptism has the strength divine

To make life immortal mine.
